Frequently Asked Questions
With the HeyCharge App, users can easily start and stop charging sessions while near their selected charging station. No internet connection is required. Usage data is transmitted from the smartphone to the HeyCharge backend. Data is transmitted encrypted — third parties can't read it.
Consumption is billed per user and wallbox in kWh increments. MID-certified meters enable accurate, consumption-based billing.
Users are billed directly. At defined intervals (usually monthly), HeyCharge collects payment for the consumed energy via credit card or SEPA direct debit.
HeyCharge offers electricity contracts at market rates through selected partners. If you prefer, the homeowner association or property manager can nominate their own supplier.
Yes, the HeyCharge Wallbox has MID-certified meters. These meters are suitable for operation and billing in residential properties.

Yes — all HeyCharge wallboxes are §14a EnWG compliant as controllable consumption devices. The HeyCharge CONNECT Edge Gateway directly supports integration with Smart Meter Gateways and grid operator signaling.
Yes. HeyCharge wallboxes have integrated load management: they mesh over ZigBee and regulate the total available load on site automatically.
The charging session can also be stopped from the vehicle. The usage information from the previous charging session is then captured by the smartphone at the next session start and transmitted to the backend.
Yes, the HeyCharge system can be expanded as needed. Simply install a new wallbox, and it will automatically integrate into the existing system.
HeyCharge doesn't use RFID cards — so there's nothing to manage.
Yes — roaming is an optional add-on for the HeyCharge Operator Model. Two flavors are available: (1) RFID as payment, app as unlock: all HeyCharge installations — online or offline — accept your EMP RFID card as the payment instrument, while users start the charging session via the HeyCharge app. (2) RFID as unlock and payment: if you'd prefer users tap the RFID card directly on the charger to start charging, this requires our optional Hybrid-Online upgrade (CONNECT Edge Gateway).
Yes, the HeyCharge Wallbox can be used by different people sequentially. The configuration of which person may charge at which wallbox is managed via the HeyCharge backend and can be adjusted at any time.
Yes, a person can be granted access to multiple wallboxes. Permissions are managed via the HeyCharge backend and can be adjusted by the administrator at any time.
Yes — the HeyCharge wallbox is eligible under the current charging infrastructure funding program for residential properties (LIS-Förderung), covering up to €1,500 per parking space. See our funding page for current program details and application process.
Yes — HeyCharge's technology, platform, and chargers are all available in Eichrecht- and MID-compliant variants. Please specify which metering certification you need when requesting a quote.
Yes — our HeyCharge CONNECT adapters retrofit any OCPP-compliant EVSE or DC fast charger onto the HeyCharge platform, enabling a pure Bluetooth-based digital experience even where internet can't reach. Contact us for a custom quote on retrofitting your existing installation.
